Awesome leucochilum flasks available
P. leucochilum (also known as P. godefroyae var. leucochilum) has long been desired for its charming flower that has a pouch with limited or even no spotting. Recent breeding lines have produced spectacularly colored flowers with intricate patterns.
One of my friends is a top breeder of leucochilums, and has produced some of the most amazing examples of this species anywhere. Even collectors in Thailand, where the species originates, have been buying some of these stunning plants!
All flasks are $90. Compots and mini-compots will likely be made available as well — please let me know at orchids@paphinessorchids.com for more details. (Please note: prices and availability are subject to change at any time.)
1) FL5110 — ‘Siamese Symmetry’ x ‘Pearl of Phuket’
It’s obvious how ‘Siamese Symmetry’ received its name. The pattern of color and its pleasing round petals and dorsal all come together for marvelous effect. ‘Pearl of Phuket’ has very nice pigmentation and patterning, and also sports a pristine, unspotted pouch. When coupled with ‘Siamese Symmetry’, a good portion of the progeny plants should have near-spotless or pristine pouches with strong symmetric pigmentation on very white petals and dorsal.
2) FL5141 — ‘King of Siam’ x ‘Thai Dynasty’
‘King of Siam’ is definitely royalty in this species. As you can see, it is FLAT and very pigemented — but not grotesquely so. Its pattern is symmetric and pleasing to the eye. Its pouch is nearly pristine, a trait that will definitely produce more exemplars of this species. ‘Thai Dynasty’ has three strengths: 1) it is round, 2) excellent pigmentation pattern, and 3) a huge pouch. Its pouch is so big it reminds me of Jay Leno. This cross will definitely produce some strongly pigmented plants with round flowers and big pouches.
3) FL5120 — ‘Bangkok Night’ x ‘Thai Dynasty’
‘Bangkok Night’ is very, very dark, and shows very round form as well. It carries a generous pouch with light pigmentation. ‘Thai Dynasty’ has an even bigger pouch, with round petals, and the resulting cross will produce strongly colored flowers with nice, large pouches.
4) FL5133 — ‘Thai Chili’ x ‘Pearl of Phuket’
‘Thai Chili’ has excellent coloration with spots that go out to the edge of the petals — and it carries a near-spotless pouch. Crossed with ‘Pearl of Phuket’, many of the progeny will certainly have great color, and spotless pouches.
5) FL5086 — ‘Pearl of Phuket’ x ‘Thai Dynasty’
Both of these parents show a nice balance between coloration and white petals/dorsal. And ‘Pearl of Phuket’s’ spotless pouch, crossed to ‘Thai Dynasty’s’ big pouch will certainly produce individual flowers of excellent markings on a white background, with shapely pouches.
6) FL5132 — ‘King of Siam’ x ‘Pearl of Phuket’
Likely to produce very intensely colored flowers, with near-spotless pouches. You can see that ‘Pearl of Phuket’ has no spots on its pouch. ‘King of Siam’ has a few spots on its pouch, but the form of the pouch is superior. Many of the progeny from this cross are likely to have beautiful, spotless pouches.
