We have some very exciting plants at Paphiness Orchids available:
P. ROTHSCHILDIANUM
1) P. rothschildianum DS6.5 (’Rex’ FCC/AOS x ‘Mont Millais’ FCC/AOS) x DS6.8 (’Rex’ FCC/AOS x ‘Mont Millais’ FCC/AOS)
This cross was between two select progeny of the famed Orchid Zone Z2135 ‘Rex’ x ‘MM’ cross. The DS designation refers to the Dorsal Spread (in centimeters). Top modern roths have dorsals in the ~7 cm range, so this cross has excellent potential to produce award winning plants. As you can see in the two attached pictures below, they are very well grown, and have between 6 - 8 leaves with LS 60+ cm (~24 inches), so they are blooming size plants.
Given their size and condition, these plants have a good chance of blooming in the next twelve months.
Price is $125.
2) P. rothschildianum ‘ro-6′ x sib (unnamed — but see picture)
Here is an exciting cross between ‘ro-6′, a plant thought to be originally wild-collected and used in various crosses in Taiwan, and a select sib. In a rare instance, both parents were in bloom at the same time and photographed side by side. You can see that these pouches appear quite dark, and the petal stance appears different from the more horizontal stance more characteristic of ‘Rex’ x ‘MM’. The dorsals on both parents are quite flat and show a densely striped pattern. Plants from this cross will definitely add interesting diversity to any roth collection.
The plants from this cross are also exceptionally well grown, with fans showing six to eight strong leaves. They are NBS/BS plants and may flower within the next twelve months, given proper growth conditions. Price $90.

3) P. rothschildianum ‘International PT1′ (’Rex’ FCC/AOS x ‘Mont Millais’ FCC/AOS) x sib (’Val’ FCC/AOS x ‘Mont Millais’ FCC/AOS)
P. rothschildianum ‘International PT1′ won a prize at the Asian Pacific Orchid Conference. It is a select progeny of the Orchid Zone’s Z2135 ‘Rex’ x ‘Mont Millais’ cross. (There is a picture of it in the Paphs in Taiwan IV book; will post as soon as I can scan a copy of it.)
Here, it was crossed to a select plant from the Tokyo Orchid Nursery’s ‘Val’ FCC/AOS x ‘Mont Millais’ FCC/AOS grex.
These plants derive 50% of their genes from ‘Mont Millais’, one of the most celebrated roth plants ever. Hence they have excellent potential push the bar higher in the roth world!
The leafspan on these plants is 40+ cm (~16 inches). Price is $125.
P. TIGRINUM
I have some excellent P. tigrinum plants, BS single growth. I acquired these elsewhere some time ago, and they needed to re-establish themselves, and they’ve certainly done that, I’m proud to say. While easy to grow, this species is still somewhat rare. I’ve had the fortune of growing a number from different sources, and I do find that they put out new shoots (i.e., growths) quite freely.
I have two plants available, both pictured below. Both are unbloomed NBS single growths in 2″ pots; they will likely need another side growth (or more!) before they will flower. That would be healthier for the plant, too, to have another growth in place before putting up a flower spike.
Price is $95 each, or $180 for both.
4) P. niveum from SELECT THAI PARENTS
One of my contacts in Asia is having a blow-out crop of niveums. What this means for you is lower prices, and a better chance to get superior blooms from superb genetics. This cross uses the best genetic stock from Thailand (where P. niveum grows naturally). These niveums are vigorous growers. This is a great opportunity to acquire a number of BLOOMING SIZE plants at very reasonable prices. I WILL POST A PIC AS SOON AS I HAVE ONE AVAILABLE (UNLESS THEY’RE ALL SOLD!).
Normal Price is $25+ each, but I am running a rare sale: Price is $20 each, $17 if you buy three or more.
HOW TO ORDER
Please send an email to orchids@paphinessorchids.com with what you’d like to order, and your current mailing address. We will confirm your order details, and email to you the total for your order along with payment information (we accept check or PayPal or credit card through PayPal). If you have any question, don’t hesitate to ask!
We usually ship via USPS Priority Mail. We send plants BARE ROOT, unless you prefer them in-pot (additional surcharge for packing and shipment weight will apply). While we do our best to pack IN SPIKE/IN BLOOM plants very carefully, we cannot guarantee that such plants will arrive with spike/bloom intact. (But, we have a pretty good success rate.)
Shipping cost is $8 for the first plant, and $3 for each additional plant (these are bare root prices). These costs apply to typical size plants; very large plants (e.g., mature kolopakingii) or plants with long flower spikes will need special packing and we will quote you on price if that is the case.
For each plant to be shipped in-pot, the additional cost is $4 (again, for typical size plants).
